Salvador Alemany
Chairman of the Abertis Foundation
Another year has passed and I’m writing this letter to take stock of the activities that have been carried out by the Abertis Foundation with regard to the environment, road safety and social action during 2016.
I would like to start by highlighting the Abertis Foundation’s involvement in road safety activities, which form part of its DNA. We demonstrated this once again by hosting the “First ‘Planeta Vial’ Forum” at the Abertis headquarters in Barcelona. However, the road safety activities are not just limited to Spain; ambitious educational and awareness initiatives have also been implemented in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, Italy and Puerto Rico.
Furthermore, we should highlight the growing impact of the International UNESCO Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves, which is located at Abertis Foundation headquarters in Castellet castle. Among other forums, the UNESCO Centre has been represented at the Biosphere Reserves World Congress held in Lima (Peru) and Marrakech (Morocco), coinciding with the United Nations Climate Change Summit, COP22.
