Castellet castle

20 September 2019

The history of Castellet castle is one of constant changes and new uses over twenty five centuries. The last time that the headquarters of the Abertis Foundation, located in Castellet i la Gornal (Barcelona), had to reinvent itself was in 2014 when the International UNESCO Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves (MedBR) was inaugurated.

Last April, the International UNESCO Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves (IUCMBR) made its debut in the Italian city of Venice.

The International UNESCO Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves (IUCMBR) incorporate two new reserves to its international network in 2018: the cities of Dana and Mujib (Jordan).

The Abertis Foundation has given its support to two collaborative projects. The first is the Network of bee keepers in the Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves, which seeks to promote the Biosphere Reserves as place with added value for bee keeping and, above all, for the production of organic honey.

The sensitivity shown by the Abertis Foundation towards the UNESCO MaB (Man and Biosphere) programme and the fact that the Abertis Group operates in different Latin American countries sets the context for our Foundation to be able to take initiatives such as this one: sponsorship of the 1st IberoMaB Youth Forum.
